    Order of the Arrow

    The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the national honor society of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). This Scouting Fraternity uses American Indian-styled traditions and ceremonies to bestow recognition on scouts selected by their peers as best exemplifying the ideals of Scouting. The society was created in 1915 as a means of reinforcing the Scout Law and to provide support to local scouting projects.

    Each Council District has a chapter invested in the lodge.

    The main Council camp for Black Warrior Council and is available for use year-round by all Scout units, Features two giant lakes, shooting sports, climbing tower and more. Three weeks of Boy Scout residence camp in June, and that is followed by two sessions of Cub Scout residence camp.


    Tour Camp Jack Wright Alabama BSA Camp Jack Wright
    SW Jefferson Co [GAC]

    Camp Jack Wright features traditional scout camping and is located in the Roupes Valley, adjacent to Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park. A beautiful nature area with great hiking trails, plentiful wildlife, professional orienteering course, horseback trailrides. Civil War museum and pioneer farm is located next door. Lots to do for both older and younger boy scouts. It is located on the border between Tuscaloosa and Jefferson Counties,


    Tour Camp Alabama BSA Camp O'Rear
    BSA Primitive Camp - Walker Co [BWC]

    Camp O'Rear is a 90-acre Scout camp located in Jasper. It is owned and operated by the Black Warrior Council as a primitive-style facility. Camp O'Rear is a beautiful facility and is one of the most diverse areas in terms of Alabama's wildlife and flora. This camp sits close to the Black Water Creek with a swinging bridge and plenty of areas for hiking, camping, and exploring.


    White Bluff Scout Reservation
    BSA Primitive Camp - Marengo Co [BWC]

    Located near the confluence of the Tombigbee and Black Warrior Rivers, White Bluff is found just off of Highway No. 43 north of Demopolis. White Bluff is the second primitive scout camp for the Black Warrior Council and is available for use most of the year by all Scout units. The facilities include a large pavilion and boat landing.

    Bankhead National Forest
    Northwest Alabama Wilderness

    The newly expanded trail system in the Bankhead National Forest added 82 miles of recreational trails to the 71 miles already in the Forest. Now, you can enjoy hiking, bicycle and horseback riding, and a trail for your all-terrain vehicle.

    Primitive camping and hunting are also allowed in some areas. Popular hiking routes include the Sipsey Wilderness Trail and the Black Warrior Horse Trail.
