From World War II to Iraqi Freedom, at one of America’s finest military parks. Here at Battleship Memorial Park you’ll walk the decks of a mighty battleship, go below in a World War II submarine and view cockpits of combat aircraft. You’ll also see tanks, a Vietnam River Patrol Boat, and a plane like the one flown by the Tuskegee Airmen. It’s all here, all waiting to be discovered by you!

Group Guided Tours & Discounts
Groups should allow 2 – 2 1/2 hours for the self-guided tour. Once onboard, the group can enter gun turrets, view crew’s quarters, sick bay, an engine room and much more. There are 12 decks open for touring. The main deck of the Battleship is handicapped accessible. The group will also enjoy watching a 15 minute film in the Uptake Theater featuring former WWII USS ALABAMA crewmen.
After touring the ALABAMA, head down to the 36,000 sq. ft. Aircraft Pavilion, dedicated to the 29 Medal of Honor recipients from the State of Alabama. In here, the group can view aircraft such as the A-12 “Blackbird” Spy Plane and a P51-D Mustang Redtail, the type of plane flown by the valiant Tuskegee Airmen.
Then inspect other aircraft, a Vietnam PBR boat, and wonderful exhibits. Don’t forget to take a ride on the Flight Simulator. Great for the young and young at heart! Submarine USS DRUM is your next stop, also designated a National Historic Landmark. She can be viewed from every vantage point, inside and out. Be sure to visit the inspiring Vietnam and Korean War Memorials also located in the park.
USS DRUM : SS-228
This famous submarine saw a lot of action during several successful combat tours in the Pacific Ocean during the Second World War. She even survived serious damage from a enemy depth charge attack on one of those patrols.
See nearly 20 historic military aircraft on display. Exhibits include aircraft from WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Cold War Era. Rockets, Missiles and other high tech equipment also on display.
Tanks, Artillery, Helicopters, Armored Personal Carriers, Flak Guns, River Patrol Boasts, and even a Willys Jeep.
The overnight program includes a complete tour of Battleship USS ALABAMA (BB-60), Submarine USS DRUM (SS-228), Aircraft Pavilion, and other displays as well as your overnight accommodations. Please allow approximately 2 hours for your tour. You are free to arrange your itinerary to suit your travel plans. Reservations Required.
You will be responsible for providing all food and beverages for your group. There are microwaves available aboard ship and barbecue grills in the park. Pizza or other food may be delivered. Our concessionaire, The Galley, also offers catered meals for overnight groups.
