Tour Bonaire

Bonaire is quiet, peaceful island located near Curacao, off the north coast of Venezuela. The local population numbers just 14,190 scattered between the capital, Kralendijk, and other local villages.

This island is rich in Dutch heritage and natural beauty. It is renowned for its protected scenic areas on land and in the water. Nature lovers can find several area to watch and admire numerous Pink Flamingos - which outnumber the human population on the island.

Although the official language is Dutch, English, Papiamento and Spanish are commonly spoken.

Other key island features:

• Goto Meer - saltwater lake with its own island on the north side of island. Major pink flamingo nesting area.
• Rincon - Oldest city on island, originated as a Spanish settlement.
• Onima - Adjacent to Rincon, area of shallow, open caves with petroglyph designs created over 500 years ago by Caiquetio Indians.
• Salt Flats - Located on south tip of island, includes 135 acre flamingo sanctuary, breeding ground located in the center of the salt flats.

Tour Kralendijk

National park protecting 13,500 acres as a bird sanctuary - 189 species. Find birds, lizards, goats and iguanas in their natural habitat.

180 miles of dirt trails for bicycle, hiking and horseback tours.

Three different beaches are also part of this park:

• Playa Chiquitu - Sugar white sand. Good for sunbathing and beachcombing but be advised of very strong undertow offshore.
• Boca Cocolishi - "Shell Beach" - Thousands of sea shells strewn over black sand. Excellent for swimming and snorkeling.
• Boca Slagbaai - Small inlet is favored local picnic spot.
