Located next to the BYU-Hawaii campus alongside SR-83 is this 42-acre park. Waterways and a lagoon in a scenic parkland setting provide the setting for this living museum and cultural center. The exhibits provide insite into the heritage of various South Seas inhabitants, including: Fiji, Hawaii, Marquesas, Maori (New Zealand), Samora, Tahiti and Tonga. This facility is operated by the Mormon church.

Visitors travel (by foot or canoe) through a series of village recreations to learn about tribal customs, arts, crafts, and sports. Hands on learning demonstartions for hula, mat weaving, coconut husking and various island foods to sample.


IMAX Polynesia Theater - Special features focus primarily about life, nature and customs of the South Seas peoples.
Evening Luau / Pageant - Horizons! Where the Sea Meets the Sky - a cast of over 120 native Polynesians perform song and dance to the backdrop of waterfalls and an erupting volcano. 7:30PM daily.
Tram Tours - Na visit to the adjacent BYU-Hawaii campus and Mormon Temple grounds.

The Hawaii Temple of the LDS Church is the first ever constructed outside of the continental United States, built in 1919. It is a great building built of volcanic rock in the form of a Greek cross and surrounded by magnificent terraced gardens and reflecting pools. While only faithful church members are allowed inside there are free guided tours for the general public that depart every 15 minutes from the Polynesian Cultural Center.

This town is primarily a military town for the nearby Schofield Army Barracks and Wheeler Air Force Base. Located about halfway up the central valley on the route to the North Shore, it makes for a good rest stop.
