Lake Pyramid
Nevada's largest natural lake: 30 miles long and 8 miles wide. The lake is located within the 475,000-acre Paiute Indian reservation. The north end of the lake and its big rock monoliths is sacred ground for the Paiutes and is off-limits to visitors. Fort Churchill State Historic Park
Ruins of an 1860 US Army outpost used to protect Pony Express riders and railroad interests. Today is a 4,461-acre park with interpretive trail. Visitor center open 8AM-4PM during summers. (775) 577-2345. Camping permitted. Located 7 miles south of Silver Springs on US-95, then go 1 mile west on Old Fort Churchill Rd.
