National Atomic Museum

This museum traces the history of the development of nuclear weapons
with film, photographs and genuine artifacts such as an original
hydrogen bomb (do not touch!), missiles and artillery pieces. Aircraft
on display include B-52 and B-29 bombers. A special 53-minute
documentary film about the Manhattan Project is shown daily.

Tour Salinas Pueblos Mission National Monument
Three 17th century indian pueblo/missions left fairly well intact.
Mission of San Agustin de Isleta

Located 16 miles south of Albuquerque along I-25, this church was
started in 1613 by Fray Juan de Salas, but badly burned in during the
Pueblo Rebellion. The church was rebuilt after the reconquest of 1692
and has been in constant use since.
Petroglyph National Monument

This 7,100-acre preserve along the western escarpment is
one of the largest sources of indian pictographs in the country.
Since 1300 A.D., Native Americans have come here to inscribe their
story on these great black rocks and hold special ceremonies.
Over 17,000 pictographs are found here in the base of lava rock
underneath a series of volcanoes. Look for the visitor center
and Boca Negra Canyon trail.
Coronado State Park and Monument
Kuaua Rd, Bernalillo, NM; (505) 867-5351;
Located on a strategic high bluff is the abandoned indian
Kuaua Pueblo. The legendary explorer Coronado came here
in 1540 on his search for the Seven Cities of Cibola and stayed
for nearly a year. Excavated in the 1930's this site contains
over 1,200 rooms and five ceremonial kivas. There is a park
campground located amongst the ruins.
