The Academy's temporary location at 875 Howard Street in downtown San Francisco while its
main facilities in Golden Gate Park go through a major overhaul.
The temporary quarters features tanks and specimens from the Steinhart Aquarium, two floors of
Natural Science exhibits, the Academy Store, Cafe, and a Naturalist Center where visitors can
make their own discovery of the fascinating worlds of Earth, Ocean, and Space.

Morrison Planetarium is closed while the Academy in Golden Gate Park is renovated.
The Morrison Planetarium's star projector is one-of-a-kind, designed and constructed by the staff of the California Academy of Sciences, and is
formally referred to as the "Academy Projector." The Morrison Planetarium's dome is 65 feet (19.8 meters) in diameter. The Planetarium's main instrument
- the large star projector at the center of the theater - is 13 feet (4 meters) long, weighing approximately 5000 pounds (2300 kg), and projects a field of 3800 stars.
