Our facility is open year-round and is available to Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA/YWCA groups, Girl Scout Troops, Boy Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs, churches, synagogues, schools/colleges or any other youth-based groups.
CYC is available for conferences, camping, day camps, field trips, retreats, banquets, receptions, and Boy Scout, Cub Scout, and Girl Scout badge classes. The maximum capacity is 265 people. Our food service center/multi-purpose room will seat 140 for dining and 200 for assemblies. Our center is equipped with ramps and outdoor walkways designed to meet the special needs of physically challenged youth and adults.
In 1946, the LAAC leased the 12.3 acred Cabrillo Camp property. It is located at the base of the cliffs directly below Fort MacArthur. The camp was open to both Scouts and other youth groups and teaches aquatics related merit badges year-round. In the late 70s, the Port of Los Angeles granted the scouts a long-term lease. In 1987, the Spielberg Center donationa added a swimming pool, campgrounds, dining area, craft center, Scout Shop, staff quarters, boat house and amphitheater.
Grunion Runs - Peak spawning period is between late March and early June. Once mature, an individual may spawn during successive runs at about 15-day intervals.
Cabrillo Marine Aquarium - educational, recreational, and research facility devoted to encouraging active public participation to promote knowledge and conservation of the marine life of Southern California. Free Admission.
San Pedro Tide Pools - Quietly watch the pool for movements to discover crabs and fish that hide from view when they are disturbed.
LA Harbor Fire Museum - contains four retired Los Angeles Fire Department fire apparatus, and many displays of LAFD and harbor-related items such as a fireboat and dive display, hose fittings, various tools and equipment. Free Admission - Open Saturdays only.
