Arguably the premier boy scout camp in Southern California, each year over 4500 scouters spend a week long tour at this Catalina Island scouting retreat. They have an exceptional Traditional Summer Camp and High Adventure Program for the entire troop or a lone adventurer.
Fall and Spring programs are exceptionally diverse, providing opportunities for YMCA groups, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs, club fundraisers, family get-togethers, and even the occasional wedding!
Committed to providing experiences that build character, foster citizenship, and provide for personal growth through challenging and stimulating programs.
Emerald Bay, located on the undeveloped West End of Catalina Island, enjoys unparralleled access to the natural gems of Catalina's singular ecosystem. The secluded beaches and coves that surround us boast world-renowned snorkeling and diving, frequently counted among the top ten destinations in the world. For the terrestrial naturalists, the hiking trails that radiate from our camp provide the perfect opportunty to spot the endemic Catalina Island Fox or the famously anachronistic Bison.
Pennington Marine Science Center
The marine animals, collected and cared for by the aquarium's staff, are held in three main areas at the center, the wet lab, habitat room and the outdoor shark tank. The plankton lab and the open ocean hall are two additional rooms to aid in marine education and the accomplishment of the center's mission.
Aquarist interns assists the Marine Science Director in giving instructional tours to guests at camp, aquarium maintenance and operations, development of current and future educational curriculum, and all aspects of maintaining a healthy, diverse aquarium.
Emerald Bay Eco-Center
Emerald Bay continues to set a superb example by conserving water, energy, and other resources. With the advantage of such a stunning location, their Nature staff offers courses in Astronomy, Mammal Study, Nature, Environmental Science, Soil and Water Conservation, Fish and Wildlife Management, and Geology.
Clear skies, unique flora and fauna, and astonishing oceanic biology allow campers to explore a natural world unlike anyplace else in Southern California.
Emerald Bay's brand new Eco Cabin was highlighted in the January 2010 issue of Metropolis magazine and the February 2010 issue of Fast Company.
