Snow Valley Ski Area
Snow Valley is one of the closest of six major ski resorts in the Lake Arrowhead area. The length of the season at Snow Valley is generally from Thanksgiving through mid-April. The snowmaking system described later covers over 62 ski-able acres and ensures a quality snow surface on the shoulder periods of the season.

Founded in 1989 - The Mountain Skies Astronomical Society operates the Robert Brownlee observatory at over 5000 feet above the city lights and smog in a beautiful mountaintop setting. The observatory features a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with electronic goto system. Call for info on stargazing programs.

Rim of the World Drive - SR-18
SR-18 is one of the best scenic drives in Southern California. It is named Rim of the World Drive because it follows a long high, west-east mountain ridgetop for nearly 50 miles. To the south are views of the San Bernardino and to the north is the Mojave Desert. On a clear day you can see for over one hundred miles. The highway runs between the 4000 and 8000 foot elevation levels through a heavily wooded area of the San Bernardino National Forest. There are several lookout vistas and forest trailheads along the way.

Running Springs is a small mountain village on SR-18 (Rim of the World Drive) just 8 miles east of Lake Arrowhead. If you're hungry here, then look for Neo's Pizza House just west of the junction of SR-18 with SR-330.

Heaps Peak Arboretum

A small but well-maintained botanical garden and forest nature trail located at the about 6000 foot elevation. The 3/4-mile nature trail is easy and fun forest hike. Entrance is free and open 365-days of the year.
