This area was originally settled by Serrano and Gabrielino Indians who called the place Kukamonga, meaning sandy place. The first Europeans arrived in 1774 and established a mission. In 1839 a Mexican land grant to Tabrucio Tapia formed Rancho Cucamonga.

Also known as the John Rains house, located at the junction of Vineyard Ave and Hemlock St. The oldest fired-brick house in San Bernardino County has been restored in the style of the 1800's. Regular one-hour guided tours.

In 1839, the 13,000 acre rancho was granted by the Mexican governor of California to Tiburcio Tapia, a wealthy Los Angeles merchant. Tapia transferred his cattle to Cucamonga and built a fort-like adobe house on Red Hill. The rancho extended easterly from San Antonio Creek to what is now Turner Avenue (Hermosa), and from today's Eighth Street to the mountains.

Rancho Cucamonga is the intersection of many famous trails including Route US-66.

California's Oldest Grape Harvest Festival comes to Rancho Cucamonga Epicenter Friday through Sunday. There will be many family activities going on all weekend long. Enjoy a day spent listening to music from the 50s through the 90s and shopping for crafts or unique one of a kind items at the concession booths. Enjoy a snack or stop for a full meal while watching live entertainment on the main stage. The fun zone will offer thrills a minute for young and old alike. You can also stomp grapes or try the pie eating contest.

Two-mile D-shaped oval motorsports racetrack that is 75 feet wide with 15-foot apron and 14-degree turn banking. The grandstand has accumulated a total capacity for 92,100 and includes 28 skyboxes since they opened in 1997 on the site of the old Kaiser Steel mill.
