The 4,235-acre Mission Bay Park is the largest man-made aquatic park in the country and gets over 15 million visitors annually.
The park offers a wide range of recreational activities including paths for walking and jogging,
and children's playgrounds.

Parks & Recreation
Mission Bay boasts 27 miles of shoreline, 19 of which are soft, sandy beaches
with eight locations designated as official swimming areas. Mission Bay offers boat docks and launching facilities,
sailboat and motor rentals, bike/walk paths, basketball courts, and playgrounds for children.
- Bike paths - 14 miles of bike trails circle the Mission Bay area.
- Dog Walk - Some areas in Mission Bay Park allow dogs to be on leashes and other areas such as Fiesta Island are leash free.
- Fishing - permitted in all areas of Mission Bay, except in areas designated for swimming, water skiing and personal water craft use. Fishing is also not allowed from any bridge.
Wildlife Preserves
These habitat areas are designated to protect local wildlife including the endangered California Lease Tern
which will abandon its nest if disturbed. You can see them hovering high above the water's surface, then plunging in head first in pursuit of small fish, or skimming low over the water.
Most of these areas are off limits to the general public.
San Diego Youth Aquatic Center
Located on Fiesta Island, this youth watersports and marine biology camp facility is home to a boy scout camp, SeaCamp oceanography youth club
and San Diego's Kayak Team. It is adjacent to Enchanted Cove which is a popular for non-motor based watersports such as Kite Surfing,
Small Sailboats, Boardsailing and Kayaking.
Beach & Aquatic Activities
Mission Bay is a network of channels and islands - a perfect spot for everyone from wind surfers to water skiers.
