    Camping Merit Badge BSA High Adventure Tour

    The weeklong high adventure tour is the crowning event of a well run BSA Venturing or Varsity Scout Program. The primary aim of this program is to use exciting outdoor activity to promote good character, citizenship and personal fitness.

    During the course of the year, each scout unit may participate in several mini-adventures. Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade and under 21 years of age.

    Utah operates 42 state parks, some with unique features like pink sand dunes and giant ancient Native American pueblos. All provide affordable family-friendly facilities and activities.

    Arches National Park High Adventure Utah Arches Park
    U.S. National Park

    Home to hundreds of natural stone arches, soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. The contrasting colors and textures of these red rock formations are amazing. Millions of years of colorful geological history have been revealed by erosion.

    Popular adventure activities include hiking, rock climbing, camping, wilderness backpacking, horse treks, and wildlife viewing. Backcountry adventure permit required.

    Bryce Canyon
    U.S. National Park

    Capturing some of the most colorful and unusual geological landforms of Southern Utah. Most of the park's highlights are easily visible from a leisurely drive along SR-63. You should allow about three hours to cover this scenic 34 mile route. There are many scenic overlooks and short trails along the way for you to explore.


    Camp Buffalo Bill
    Yellowstone National Park

    Camp Buffalo Bill lies seven miles east of Yellowstone National Park in the Shoshone National Forest and has provided a quality summer camp experience for scouts from across the country since 1949.

    The camp is ideal for troops wishing to have both a Scout camp experience and tour the nation's first national park. Camp Buffalo Bill is also the home of the Yellowstone High Adventure Outpost, a high adventure program where scouts can participate in one of four core areas: Trek, Climbing, Paddlesports, and Winter.

    Camp Bartlett - Bear Lake

    Experience outdoor adventure at Bartlett Scout Reservation. This facility is located on national forest lands with easy access to Bear Lake kayaking treks, trout fishing, a modern shooting sports center and rock climbing center.

    A well-designed, classic-set camp with campsites nestled among tall pines and quaking aspen trees surrounding a well-stocked lake and lots of wildlife. Big emphasis on developing Venturing leadership skills. Camp Beaver
    BSA High Adventure Base [UNPC]

    Experience great outdoor adventures like mountain biking, lakefront activities, whitewater rafting, hiking three peaks, and rock climbing and rapelling. Many venues have an overnight backpacking option. NEW for 2013 - Beaver H.A.B. has partnered with Eagle Pointe ski resort to offer lifts to run mountain bikes up the mountain for a gonzo downhill biking experience.

    Del Webb High Adventure Base BSA Utah Camp Del Webb
    BSA High Adventure Base [LVAC]

    Del Webb High Adventure Base—located in the pines and aspens above Kolob Reservoir and Zion National Park in southern Utah. Activity areas feature Rappelling, Mountain Boarding, Mountain Biking, Shooting Sports and Canyoneering areas all have a different program. The High Adventure portion of the camp is open to 13 yr. olds and above per National Standards of the Boy Scouts of America. The Base Camp portion is open to 11 year olds and up. Large groups can also reserve the camps for popular encampments or other special programs that involve all ages of youth.

    This unique desert high adventure program located near Moab, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks has various challenge programs for boy scouts ages 14+ including - Mountain biking on Moab, Utah’s famous terrain, exciting and challenging Climbing and Rappelling activities including Canyoneering, River Rafting on the Colorado River, and a high adventure Shooting Sports program.

    New Fork High Adventure Base BSA Wyoming Green River Canoe Trek
    Central Wyoming High Adventure

    This BSA High Adventure program is a week long backcountry expedition through Wyoming's beautiful backcountry and is operated by Camp New Fork of the BSA Trapper Trails Council.

    Nothing says high adventure more than loading your team or crew into canoes, then submitting to the power of a raging river! Popular river activities include fishing, swimming, swamping, water fights and wildlife viewing.

    Wasatch Mountain Bike Trek

    High Adventure on the Mountain. Located 13 miles up scenic Cub River Valley is this great scout camp, nestled in a beautiful mountain valley. Elevated on the Highline Trail are breathtaking vistas and views of the surrounding valleys. While biking along these trails learn more about leadership and venturing scouts.


    Camp Loll
    Yellowstone Backcountry Tours

    Generations rave about Camp Loll, the camp tucked in middle of the brooding, old growth forest, nestled around the "Lake of the Woods". Not only do they run a popular traditional boy scout summer camp with many merit badges, but they also host three amazing backcountry hi-adventure treks directly into either one of these two awesome national parks, Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons.

    Rock climbing, beautiful lakes, majestic waterfalls, endless forest and a great variety of wildlife add to the magic of Camp Loll, operated by the Trapper Council of BSA.

    A mentally and physically demanding challenge for BSA Varsity and Venturing Scout crews filled with high adventure fun. Every day your crew is on the move, with full packs, high Uintah Mountain elevations, traveling between 8-12 miles daily.

    Learn survival skills in Mountaineering, Firearms, GPS Navigation, Wilderness Survival, Backpack Cooking, Wilderness First Aid, Communications, and Team Leadership. Full activity participation for youth and adults. Scouters with Special Needs can be easily accomodated here.

    Camp Ridgeline will features exciting mountain adventures for Varisty and Venturer Scouts. These adventure trails provide exposure to EDGE method training activities and new experiences. Choose from a variety of intense 3-day programs.

    Boy Scouts can earn special recognition for service performed at any one of our National Parks. Scouts are also encouraged to submit a short narrative to the BSA Good Turn for America website describing their participation and lessons learned. 5 hours service for the certificate, 10 hours for their cool patch.

    Steiner Scout Camp
    Highest Boy Scout Camp in America

    That's right! At 10,400 ft elevation in the majestic Uinta Mountain wilderness east of Kamas UT, Camp Steiner is ranked as the highest elevation boy scout camp in the USA and second highest camp in the world. Besides a full summer scout camp program, it is an excellent base for high adventure trekking into the surrounding wilderness.

    Founded in 1930, Camp Steiner is known for its many traditions including Mountain Man competitions and the Steiner Yell. The reenactment of the siege of Mafeking, followed by the Honor Trail, a dawn hike and the Polar Bear Plunge are all a part of Steiner's program.

    This forest preserve is name for Fish Lake, the largest natural mountain lake in the state of Utah. It is home to the 1000-mile Paiute ATV Trail as well as some of Southern Utah's best stream and lake fishing.

    This area is a paradise known for its beautiful aspen forests, scenic byways, motorized and non-motorized trails, elk hunting, and mackinaw and trout fishing. Recreational adventures include scenic drives, mountain biking, snowmobiling, ATV use, hiking, and camping.

    Tour Great Salt Lake
    Watersports & Exotic Widlife Tour

    Become one of the very few to hike the entire perimeter of the Great Salt Lake. A shorter trek is to hike the perimeter of Antelope Island. Enjoy waterfront recreation at the end of each day.

    With its sudden storms and expansive spread, the lake is a great test of sailing skills. It is also a major wildlife refuge for antelope, bison and a great variety of migratory waterfowl. The Great Salt Lake is 75 miles long, 35 miles wide but averages only 15 feet deep.

    Colorado Rocky Mountain Trek BSA Colorado 14er Club
    Rocky Mountain High Adventure

    The Colorado Rockies have 54 mountain peaks of over 14,000 foot elevation. As the trail gets steeper, the landscape changes from thick forests to barren moonscape. Frequently you can experience all four seasons in a single day's climb. And your reward is a wide variety of the best mountain top views in the USA.

    But Climbing any mountain that extends over 14,000 feet above sea level is not easy. Your legs ache and your lungs scream for air. It is the ultimate test of physical endurance and mental stamina.

    Rail Trail State Park
    The Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail is a 28-mile non-motorized trail. The trail begins or ends in Park City and follows Interstate 80 through Wanship and Coalville to Echo Reservoir. Activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, jogging, Nordic skiing and wildlife watching.

    Great Western Trail

    A trail that extends from the Arizona border all the way to the Canadian border. The trail passes through the Wasatch/Cache National Forest and Bear Lake area. The trail system traverses 4,455 miles through Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. It incorporates stunning desert and canyon landscapes, plateaus, woodlands, dense forests and alpine meadows. It links 18 National Forests, Indian, State and BLM lands and encompasses the most diverse vegetation, topography and wildlife in the western United States.
