    • Ogden is a historic Mormon town settled at the confluence of the Ogden and Weber Rivers just immediately after the Mormon pioneers arrived in Utah in 1847. Today it is one of the largest cities in Utah having gained much prominence as a railroad distribution hub after the golden spike was driven to finish the intercontinental railroad at nearby Promontory Point in 1869.

      LDS Ogden Temple and Tabernacle

      Dedicated in 1972, this edifice features white cast stone with a fluted appearance; gold anodized aluminum grillwork, and gold directional glass windows. Although this Mormon temple is closed to the public, visitors are invited to take a stroll on its scenic grounds.

      Ogden Pioneer Days - Rodeo and Celebration
      July 2-week special event; Festival Weblink; Ogden Pioneer Days Celebration (started in 1934) is one of Utah's largest parades, rodeos, cowboy poetry and music festival, fireworks, concerts, equestrian events, community breakfasts, a golf tournament, a Car Show, and several other events. Over 20 events and activities take place in a two-week period.

      Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum

      Fort Buenaventura State Park

      Contains replica of 1836 stockade and cabin built by Miles Goodyear, the first settlement in Utah. Special Event is the Mountain Man Rendezvous held on both Easter and Labor Day weekends.

      Hill Aerospace Museum - Hill AFB
      The museum exhibits over 80 aircraft covering aviation history from the 1930's to the present plus an assortment of artwork, uniforms and flight suits. F-15 and F-16 fighter planes, SR-71 Black Bird spy plane, Rockets, bombs and missiles.

      Municipal Park
      Five acres of garden paths and picnic areas located at 25th St and Washington Blvd. In Nov/Dec an international Christmas display is presented.

      Ogden Christmas Parade [NOV] - he parade is the prelude to the lighting of Christmas Village. You will find bands, clowns, floats, and the jolly old elf, himself, Santa Claus in this festive parade.
      Ogden Valley Ballon Festival [AUG] - includes a Fine Arts Show, Arts & Crafts Booths, Continuous Live Entertainment featuring over 30 Bands and Musicians, Kids Games and an Antique Car Show.
      Street Farmers & Art Market [Jul-Oct] - starts off bright and early, in the cool hours of a summer Saturday morning so shoppers can rise with the sun.
      Weber County Fair [AUG] - continuous top-quality entertainment groups with bluegrass, country western, pop, and much more, along with standard county fair contests, exhibits, demonstrations and rodeos.
      Aggie Car Show [JULY] - over 200 classic cars and trucks on display at Liberty Park in Ogden.

      Red Rock Ranch & Outfitters - Huntsville UT
      Longest operating ranch in Northern Utah (since 1866) that today operates a chuck wagon cafe and outfitters for horseback riding and snowmobile trails. Nearby is scenic Causey Reservoir hidden in the hills. a real working cattle ranch complete with cattle drives for the public. The ranch is home to mountain lions, mule deer, bob cats, red fox, moose, elk, wild turkeys, sand hill cranes, bald eagles, golden eagles and many other species of wildlife.

      Peery's Egyptian Theatre
      2415 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT 84401; Theatre Weblink;
      Construction began in the autumn of 1923 on ground where the Peery family’s first Ogden home once stood. The Egyptian’s debut occurred just 10 months later, July 3, 1924. Peery’s new 1,200-seat show house was built entirely of poured, reinforced concrete.

      Ogden City Union Station

      This grand old train depot, built in 1924, was the hub of transcontinental rail traffic for over 50 years. Today it houses museums and galleries featuring railroad history, firearms, gems and minerals, classic cars and the arts. The Union Station is also the home of a restaurant, model train shop, large and small meeting rooms and a satellite police station.
      [Personal Note: My grandfather drove Union Pacific steam locomotives in and out of this terminal for many years. BRH]
      Located at 25th St and Wall Ave is a group of three museums:

      • Wattis-Dumke Model Railroad - giant exhibit recreates Northern Utah's rail topography.
