Where

Thomas Coram, 1668-1751, was granted a charter by George II to establish a hospital for the care and education of abandoned children, and his Foundling Hospital was built in Lambs Conduit Fields in 1739.  The philanthropist is also remembered at the children’s park at Coram Fields.  This has only seven-acres but there is an under-fives play area, an animal enclosure with goats, sheep and a pig, a paddling pool, playground equipment and café.  Adults are only admitted if accompanied by a child, and no dogs are allowed.                                Admission free
