San Diego’s Golden Triangle
San Diego’s Golden Triangle is also known as the University City neighborhood. The area is bordered by the I-5, I-805 and SR-52 freeways in the shape of a fairly neat triangle. To the west is La Jolla and UCSD, north is Sorrento Valley, east is the Miramar USMC military airport and to the south is Clairemont Mesa. The giant upscale shopping mall, University Towne Center, is located exactly in the center.
Del Fairgrounds and Racetrack
This large facility is host to horse racing (July-Sept), the San Diego County Fair (June), the ScreamZone (October), and Holiday Lights (December).
San Diego Mormon Temple
Although admittance is restricted to members of the LDS church, the exterior grounds are open to free public tours daily. The best time to visit (but also most crowded) is on Saturdays when an average of over two dozen wedding parties are passing through to solemnize marriage vows and to take pictures on the lawns and gardens.

Rose Canyon Park
Open space preserve and nature bike path that follows Rose Canyon from Mission Bay, along the ATS&F; railroad tracks up into the heart of the Golden Triangle.

Rose Canyon Bike Trail – very popular weekend bike trail runs the length of Rose Canyon.
Marian Bear Memorial Natural Park
Large open space located in San Clemente Canyon along SR-52, the southern border of the Golden Triangle. The public can enjoy over three miles of mostly flat trails along the length of the canyon. More challenging hiking is available on the trails in several of the finger canyons leading up to the mesa tops.
Family Recreation Centers
Doyle Park Recreation Center – Gymnasium, weight room, game room, outdoor basketball courts, sand and volleyball courts, tot lots, ball fields.
Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center – The LFJCC facility is open to everyone and is located two blocks north of UTC Mall. They offer youth theater, sports, aquatics, exercise, summer camps and much more.
Ice Town – La Jolla Village UTC
Large indoor skating rink offers an extensive variety of ice skating programs. Daily public sessions are available for recreational skaters. Learn to skate with group skating lessons and private lessons, and progress on to both ISI and US Figure Skating competitive programs. The hockey program includes: In-House Youth Hockey, Jaguars Travel Hockey League, In-House Adult Hockey, clinics, and tournaments. Ice Town can also accommodate birthday parties, private group reservations, and broom ball. Home to Okanagan Hockey School, ISI Championships, Jaguars Hockey and UCSD Tritons Ice Hockey.
